The Amen Corner

The Amen Corner by James Baldwin explores the life of Sister Margaret, a fiery Pentecostal preacher in Harlem whose unwavering faith and spiritual authority are challenged when her estranged husband unexpectedly reappears provoking conflict in her family and putting their son at a crossroads. At the same time, Sister Margaret’s congregation decides to oust her, based on their perception that she unjustly ruined her own family in the name of religion. Margaret is lead to a powerful reckoning where she must confront her past, embrace her family, and reconcile her spiritual mission with the realities of her life.
